UK NATURIST RESORT WINS TOURISM AWARD

25 September 2009

Naturist self-catering accommodation Pevors Farm has scooped the 'Best Self-Catering Establishment' award in the Essex Tourism Awards 2009, showing that places where the dress code is perhaps out of the ordinary is no barrier to acknowledgment of great holiday experiences. Pevors Farm automatically becomes a finalist in the regional Enjoy England Awards to be announced on 29 October.

The awards are judged on the basis of the standard of comfort; welcome, handover and information provided; range of equipment and facilities; cleanliness; character and location of premises; inclusiveness; green business practices; supporting the local community and value for money amongst others, with resorts completing entry forms describing what they provide backed up by visits from the judging panel.

Margaret and John Lewis, owners and operators of Pevors Farm, near Sible Hedingham, said:
“Since we decided to enter the naturist holiday market in 2002, our four converted farm buildings set around a courtyard with adjoining indoor pool have been almost fully booked and many naturists have enjoyed happy times here. We’ve since converted a further building, added a conservatory, hot tub, mini-golf and covered BBQ. Guests can also enjoy parts of the 400-acre farm as nature intended, with plenty of naturist walks and fishing opportunities. In 2010, we will have 2 new apartments in our beautifully restored Essex barn and a new sunbathing courtyard. It’s also been a perfect place for people to try social nudity for the first time. We’re delighted that we can enter - and win - an event like this without prejudice getting in the way.
